Full stands, a fantastic crowd, the world records by Jamaican superstar Usain Bolt and a certain Robert Harting tearing off his jersey after winning the world title… Those have been the ingredients for one of the most spectacular sporting events of the past years in Germany. Nine years after the fantastic Berlin 2019 World Athletics Championships, the Olympic core sport is returning to the fastest track on earth with Europe’s best athletes! 47 decisions for gold, silver and bronze From 7-12 August 2018, many of the best athletes of our time are coming back. For the first time, the sports metropolis Berlin will host the European Athletics Championships. At least 1,500 athletes from more than 50 countries will compete for gold, silver and bronze in 47 disciplines. The event aims to set new standards in many different areas. Already the very first out of the six competition days includes two highlights of the event schedule: the 100 m finals men and women. Two out of five final decisions at the very beginning – no other event starts at this pace! Following this, one highlight chases the other for the next six competition days. Additionally, the Berlin 2018 European Athletics Championships will realize the road races and some qualifying events at the city centre of Berlin. Thus, the athletes will pass by Berlin’s most known sights and places of interest. Maybe again, Robert Harting will rip off his jersey which could happen for the last time. After winning the Olympic title and several World and European Championships, the athlete from Berlin will end his unique and glorious career. Back home at Berlin Olympic Stadium. Where else?
